During children's week the Fletcher Room children did some cooking. The children had the opportunity to stand up and watch the different ingredients mix together in the bowl. They also had the chance to help mix everything together. They were also encouraged to stand up at the table if possible. They created a delicious banana cake that most of them enjoyed eating.
This is very impressive that you are encouraging children at this young age to participate in cooking experiences. Often educators feel that cooking is not a viable option, but this proves that educators can complete cooking experiences very successfully with very young children. As we discussed during the live chat session last night, its important to implement holistic based experiences, where educators can intentionally introduce new concepts to children. Children are learning about per-mathematics concepts, increasing vocabulary as educators provide a running commentary of the processes involved in completing a cooking experience.
Well done, these children are very lucky to have passionate educators such as yourself.
